Lawrence Nurses Director Robert Johnston has had a letter published in the Times while Head of Fundraising, Verity Fifer has had a letter published in the Telegraph.

Robert Johnston’s letter reads:

Charities in Peril

The damaging impact of rising employers’ National Insurance contributions on charities cannot be ignored.

Lawence Nurses provides free hospice care in people’s homes, yet receives only a minimal statutory NHS grant – less than 3.5% of our budget. So far this year, Lawrence Nurses has nursed 113 patients at home and provided respite and bereavement support to families and carers. The government should prioritise supporting hospices and hospice-at-home services, which help keep patients out of hospitals and ultimately save the NHS money, rather than raising taxes in ways that threaten the survival of charities like ours.
